So, you might be wondering how do they make money through having gaming as a profession?
You might know famous gamers such as pewdiepie which has currently about 30 million subscribers or E-Sports gamers like Dyrus or Bjergsen who streams via twitch to earn some money or from national gaming competition.
However, I would be talking about if it is possible to have a gaming as a profession in Singapore.
(Disclaimer: I might not be right about this, however this is just my opinion. If you have your dreams, just follow it! Like mine, to be a professional ninja.)
In my opinion, having a gaming lifestyle as a hobby is still legit in Singapore however having gaming lifestyle as a full time job seems too unsustainable. In Singapore, gaming competitions such as the GPL which is held between ASEAN countries from the game League of Legends are held every summer, winter and spring however the prize money seems to be too low to live in a country with a high standard of living.
Not only that but the prize money got to be split between team members and its not a guarantee that your team will be first place.

As you can see, the first place gets $80,000. This means if the money is split by the team each people would get $80,000/5 = $16,000. This does not include the coach that they hired else the prize money would be divided by 6 or even more. Since its held every Summer, Winter, Spring, $16,000/3 = $5,333 every month.

If you think carefully, Singapore full time gamers also have to compete with 12 other teams from different countries, hence the odds of them getting first place is slim. Also, full time gamers also stream to earn profit, however in there aren't much viewers who would watch Singapore gamers stream, especially if they are not well known internationally.

Not to offend those who think of having full time gaming as a profession in Singapore but it seems impossible unless you have a bank( parents? ) to support you, but if you plan to have a gaming lifestyle in Singapore, it is really easy and affordable as long as you have the basic budget to get the gadgets you need.
Of course, there are successful full time gamers such as pewdiepie, the most popular Youtuber who has so far made over $USD 7 million from 3.7 billion views from his Youtube videos. He did not expect it to be possible but he did it with perseverence and you can to if you try so
